Christmas Gift List

Each year at Christmas time people inquire about the needs in Haiti and specific ways they can contribute. This past year it was suggested that we put out a gift list, not for a specific sponsored child, but a list of needed items for many to enjoy. If you would like to contribute you may designate to an area on the Christmas gift list (click here). For those who wish to give gifts in honor of a loved one, there is a printable card (click here) available on the website.

Continued Unrest

As many of you know, there has continued to be a higher level of unrest in Haiti, especially after Hurricane Jeanne left so many hungry and without a shelter to sleep.  Bernie and Glenn were unable to travel to Tricotte in October and the November trip has been postponed.  Please continue to keep Pastor Diogene in your prayers as he travels.

Prayers for Safety

Please keep Bernie, Glenn and Pastor Diogene in your prayers this week as they travel to Tricotte.  Bernie and Glenn arrived in Port au Prince on the 7th and have been waiting for the flooded roads to clear so that they travel through the flood ravaged regions of Haiti, including Gonaives, on their journey to Tricotte.  News reports out of Haiti have reported violence against American travelers by Aristide supporters, who would like to see him brought back as the President of Haiti.  We know that the Lord is in control and are continually comforted by all of your prayers.  Thank You!

Flooding in the Caribbean

Heavy rains threatened the waterlogged southern border of Haiti and Dominican Republic even as rescue workers rushed Saturday to collect decomposing bodies and reach villagers cut off days ago when torrents and mudslides buried entire communities. Haiti's interim President Boniface Alexandre claimed that in order to prevent future catastrophes they must plant trees to reverse the deforestation that is the source of deadly floods and mudslides in Haiti [Full Story].

Haiti Ministry Map

Thanks to Dave Brim we now have a Haiti map that includes Tricotte as well as some of the other villages where we have schools.  Dave used his GPS hand held on one of our trips to locate some of these smaller villages and then included them on the following maps [haiti (zoomed) / haiti].
