Church Planting

Starfish Ministries is strategically involved in planting churches in the northern remote part of Haiti known as the Gros Moines area. Our Haitian director, Pastor Diogene Pierre, leads this aspect of the ministry. The church planting ministry closely follows the school ministry. After starting a school or supporting an existing school in a village, the next step is to conduct an evangelistic crusade as the beginning of a new church plant.

Following are villages in which we currently have churches or are in some stage of a future church.

Tricotte: Pastor Diogene's home village - started a church there in early 1980's.

Port-au-Prince: The Tricotte church birthed this church in the late 1980's.

Drigeon: The Tricotte and Port-au-Prince churches conducted an evangelistic crusade in 1997. Starfish Ministries built a church building in 1998 and the new church was birthed later that year.

Ravine: Starfish Ministries started a school in Ravine in 2001. An evangelistic crusade was conducted in November of 2002.  The new church building was constructed during 2003 and the official birthing and church dedication takes place in November of 2003.

Nan-Paul: Land was purchased in 2002 for a school and church. Construction began on the church building (to be used for school as well) in the September of 2003. A small school will begin in Nan-Paul in January of 2004. An evangelistic crusade is being planned for the spring of 2004 with a church plant to follow.

Eau-Janvier: Starfish Ministries began supporting a school in this village in September of 2002. Currently there is no church in this village and our intent is to hold an evangelistic crusade and plant a church in late 2004 or 2005.

Trou-Codon: This is an unreached village with no school or church. Starfish Ministries purchased land in Trou-Codon in May of 2003. We will start a school here in September of 2004 and expect to plant a church here in 2005 - 2006.

As we reach out to these remote villages with schools and feeding programs, they become very open to the good news of Jesus Christ. God is at work in these villages and has invited Starfish Ministries to join Him in that work. We look to the Lord to lead us to more unreached people and seek to share His love and compassion with the lost in these villages.
